Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The Orange County Schools ‘ Special Education Alliance was created by the 28 districts in Orange County in 2003. The primary goal of the Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance is to meet the need for a countywide system that can focus on special education. This includes offering staff development and training to school employees, creating leadership in advocating for legislative and administrative change, overseeing the decisions and rulings rendered by administrative agencies, offering a way to fund the litigation and appeals of administrative and judicial decisions and rulings especially when the outcome has a countywide significance or precedent setting in its implications for all students.

The Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance was created with the intention of addressing all the concerns of all students regardless of if the student has any manner disability. Any student that is not receiving the full services they need changed because of lack of funding to support mandates created under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The main problem that Orange County Schools faces with meeting this federal mandate is drawing funds from the regular education program. Funds are often taken from the regular education program to support the needs of special education students. Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance aims to provide the services all students need to be successful in meeting academic standards.

Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance plans to accomplish this goal by providing staff development to its practitioners, use the legislative process to seek adequate funding to provide these high quality services, and when necessary, support litigation to achieve these goals. Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance also encourages staff members, parents, advocates and organizations to get involved by using their voices and contact the local officials and hold them accountable for promises and mandates for which regular education and special needs children are entitled.

Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance is lead by an Executive Committee that is composed of Superintendents from different school districts across Orange County. The actual carrying out of the goals is the responsibility of the Review Committee. The Review Committee is comprised of five Superintendents regionally nominated, Orange County Schools’ legal counsel, two private attorneys representing school districts in special education matters, two SELPA directors, and one business administrator. The Review Committee has been working hard for the past two years in order to try and meet the goals of the Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance. Even though the focus of the Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance is in the areas of legal and funding, it tries hard to work closely with teachers and staff members so that its members are informed about the needs of the schools at root levels.

Since the Orange County Schools’ Special Education Alliance was created it has accomplish a great deal to meet the needs of the school districts across Orange County.

Cincinnati Schools Curb Spending

Friday, May 30th, 2008

The Superintendent of the Cincinnati Schools recommended a budget for the 2007-2008 school year that is lower than the current budget by about $308 thousand dollars. This budget will mean that the Cincinnati Schools must continue to curb their spending, and direct the majority of the funds towards the educational basics: teachers, supplies and buildings. This budget focuses support on the Cincinnati Schools’ five year strategic plan. This plan was unanimously approved by the Board of Education in April. Cincinnati Schools believe that if they direct resources to the best teaching practices, then academic performance of students will improve. The budget also means the Cincinnati Schools need to balance a reduction in staffing.

The Cincinnati Schools made a commitment in 2004 that they would undertake efforts to lower costs dramatically, and to make sure staffing was in line with enrollment. Personnel cuts were made in the 2007-2008 General Operating Budget to make sure that this goal was accomplished. The new budget also reflects reductions in spending that are non-personnel related. It includes operational costs that the Cincinnati Schools made possible by closing two elementary schools and merging two others.

In order to achieve this budget and to make it workable the Cincinnati Schools used a zero-based budgeting process again this year for expenditures which were not personnel related. Each expenditure had to go through a justification process to ensure that it was necessary to support operations and education. By using this method the Cincinnati Schools were able to offer a slightly lower the budget without jeopardizing vital functions.

Through these measures, the district is able to keep spending slightly below last year’s. The cost-reduction measures also make it possible for Cincinnati Schools to extend the life of its most recent operating levy. The Cincinnati Schools approved a levy in November 2000 that was supposed to last for four years. But without further cost cutting procedures there will be shortages in the 2008-2009 school year. The recommendations show the Cincinnati Schools’ commitment to supporting the strategic plan through better academic processes and better management efficiency. There were several priorities to be implemented through continued, redirected, or grant funding. Federal funding for Cincinnati Schools will now be pooled with the general operating fund to support better strategic planning which will do away with the need for duplicate bookkeeping.

The Budget Commission of the Cincinnati Schools contributed greatly to the development of this budget. Also, an advisory group of parents, teachers, and administrators provided information, ideas, and feedback to ensure that despite the budget cuts the education of the children of Cincinnati Schools would not be adversely affected.

Conscious Consumption: A Place To Start

Friday, May 30th, 2008

While attending language school in Mexico a number of years ago, I was suddenly hit with the idea that I could live without much of what I had been obsessively acquiring and consuming in the states. I had two weeks worth of clothes with me that seemed to be serving me well as I washed and wore them for months. I rarely watched television and never saw a computer, instead choosing to read, take a swim, or socialize with others. I never stepped foot in a supermarket and instead shopped at the local outdoor market. I ate better, I felt better and I slowed down to pay attention to the world and the people in it.

Once I returned to the U.S., I tried to make that simplicity a priority in my life. Over the years, I have become more aware of my community, my world, and my planet. I visit the farmer’s market on weekends for locally grown produce, I buy more organic and even became a member of a farmer’s cooperative. I combine errands so I drive less, and I recycle every bit of paper, plastic, metal and glass in my household. I do not buy throwaway gadgets like disposable toilet bowl wands (though I must confess my daughter did wear disposable diapers) and I try to avoid buying from companies who have no social conscience. As an e-retailer, I sell handcrafted items rather than mass-produced goods providing customers with an alternative to the big box stores, and I donate a portion of all sales.

The point is, being a conscious consumer requires setting some boundaries and holding one’s self accountable. If you’ve ever wondered what you could do to make a difference, but didn’t know where to begin, here are some ideas. Start small, perhaps making one change this week, and another next week, and so on. Every effort by every person adds up and makes a difference. Don’t wait, use your power as a consumer to make global changes today!

Check out this list of ideas you can incorporate into your life one step at a time.

1. Watch one hour less of television

2. Seek out locally grown produce

3. Start a vegetable garden and grow your own

4. Buy organic products

5. Buy from the bulk bins to reduce packaging

6. Join your local co-op

7. Rather than going to the mall, shop small businesses in your community or shop small businesses online and save gas

8. Avoid socially irresponsible companies and support progressive ones - Read The Blue Pages: A Directory of Companies Rated By Their Politics and Practices or visit The Responsible Shopper.com website for more information

9. Find alternatives to chemical-based household cleaners and products

10. Turn off lights, turn down the heat, and raise the setting on the air conditioner by a few degrees

11. Reuse or recycle

12. Buy fair trade products - Read the 32 page booklet The Conscious Consumer: Promoting Economic Justice Through Fair Trade

13. Bring your own cloth bags to the grocery store (many will offer a discount)

14. Bring your travel mug to your favorite coffee shop (Starbucks offers a 10 cent discount)

15. Avoid impulse purchases - think as you buy and consume wisely

16. Take public transportation

You can probably think of dozens more ways to make a positive change. Go ahead, I dare you!

Power or Fatigue for More Muscle Mass?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

One major concept that everyone seems to be confusing now-a-days is muscle fatigue versus muscle power, in search for techniques that will allow you to build and gain muscle weight.

When your main goal is to gain as much muscle weight as possible, you have to know exactly which of the two “factors” you are training for, either to “fatigue” the muscle, closely related to “pumping” and “burning” it, or to use “power”, meaning lifting as much weight as possible, regardless of getting a pump or not.

There is a major difference between taking a set to failure (which you should be doing on your “real sets”) because of fatigue, or reaching failure because of having no more strength, or power, in the muscle to continue to lift the weight.

I’m sure you have experienced doing a high-rep set and quitting because the pain and burning (”fatigue”) just got too much to support.

However, deep down inside you knew that you still had enough strength to actually complete another 2 or 3 reps.

On the other hand, I’m sure you’ve also done sets that no matter how much effort you put into it, no matter if every vein in your body was popping out because of the strain, you just could not complete one more rep because you simply had no more strength left.

If it’s fatigue that causes you to stop a set, all you are going to be building is muscle endurance.

That’s fine and dandy if you’re training to climb mountains or chop logs for 8 hours straight.

All fatiguing a muscle does is fill it with stale blood, without any oxygen, and forms lactic acid and other waste products…….all of which do nothing for building muscle mass and gaining weight!

But if you want to build and gain muscle mass, what should stop you from continuing a set is that you have no more stength / power in the muscle.

That will build strength, and as a result, forces more fibers to come into play, to work, and is what will cause overload in the muscle…………all factors that lead to bigger and stronger muscles.

Period.

You can go on ahead and get all the pump and burn you want, but if it’s big muscles you’re after, you need to train for stronger muscles.

To illustrate: you can do 100 push ups and get a real good pump and burn, fatiguing the muscle in the chest.

But what do you think is going to give you a bigger chest……100 push ups, or lifting 315 pounds for 13 reps??

Remember, if you want to gain muscle weight, train for power, not fatigue.

This helmet also has a sun visor and has plush moisture absorbent interior to offer you comfort and a hassle free riding experience.

Now that you have seen your choices, there are still some things that you need to know before you buy that German motorcycle helmet. You must be able to find the right sizing that would be comfortable for you. Whether you plan to buy a full face motorcycle helmet or a shorty, you must know what will fit best and comfortably for you.

Different types offer you different levels of comfort and protection. You must be able to know what type would fit you best and ideal for your kind of riding lifestyle. If you are a motorcycle speed demon, then a full face motorcycle helmet would be the right choice for you. It will provide you with the overall head protection that you would look for.

If you are the occasional motorcycle cruising enthusiast, open face and shorty motorcycle helmets would be ideal for you. Such helmets will offer you the comfort and fit that you would welcome for your cruising enjoyment on your motorcycle. But be aware that such helmets may not give you total protection and you might need to add some goggles or sunglasses as part of your headgear to provide some added protection.

Camera Reviews - Nikon Coolpix Cameras

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

This Nikon Coolpix camera review below explains the benefits, features, and types of Coolpix cameras available. When choosing a digital camera, you’ll want one that meets your needs and takes great pictures. Digital cameras come in all different styles and sizes, and with many unique features. They can be purchased at different price levels depending on the features and what type of quality you need.

A cool digital camera that is taking the market by storm is the Nikon Coolpix camera. It is available in several styles. Use the quick digital camera reviews below to compare Nikon Coolpix products.

On the Performance Level

For high performance, there are the “P” models including P5000, which offers 10.0 megapixels, a 3.5x Zoom-Nikkor lens, and Optical VR/image stabilization. Its retail value is $399.95.

Next, there’s the Coolpix P4 model with 8.1 megapixels, a 3.5x Zoom-Nikkor lens, and vibration reduction. It is also priced at around $400. The Coolpix P3 model offers 8.1 megapixels, 3.5x Zoom-Nikkor lens, built-in WiFi, and vibration reduction at around $449.95.

Digital Camera Style

For great digital camera styles, many are choosing Nikon Coolpix cameras from the “S” series. The “S” series consists of the following camera types: S500, S200, S50, S50c, S10, S9, S7c, and S4. Models in this series will have pictures ranging from 6.0 to 7.2 megapixels, a 3x or 10x Zoom-Nikkor lens, LCD screens, and more. Prices average from $250 to $350.

The “L” Series

In the “L” series, memories are made easier with L12, L11, L10, L6, L5, and L3 cameras. Prices for these models range from $120 to $250. The L6 can capture up to 1,000 pictures! The megapixels range from 5.0 to 7.2 in this series.

Cheap Digital Cameras

Cheap digital cameras don’t always have to equal low quality. You can still pay a reasonable amount for a great camera if you need one for personal use.

If you’re seeking a bargain or need to find a cheap digital camera without sacrificing quality, choose the “L” series. These are the least expensive in the Nikon Coolpix camera family, but still offer amazing quality in photos and outstanding features.

For example, the L10 offers 5.0 megapixels, a 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens, ISO 800 adjustment, and a bright 2.0-inch LCD screen for around $120. For only $30 more, you can get the L11 model, which offers 6.0 megapixels, a 2.4-inch LCD screen, and a 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens!

Digital Camera Reviews - Features

Digital cameras come with a number of features. You usually will pay more for special features. Some features you might watch for include an image sensor, autofocus, an optical viewfinder, an LCD monitor and display, media CF cards or Microdrive cards, various shooting modes (still or movie), mode dial, exposure modes and metering, speedlight (built-in or external), delete function, auto off mode, viewfinder, capture modes, battery life indicator, and white balance features.

There are also many accessories to make using your digital camera easier such as lens caps, camera straps, cables and chargers, Nikon View CD-ROM, etc.

Whether seeking a cheap digital camera or a more expensive Nikon Coolpix camera with many special features, you can use the digital camera reviews above to discover the camera that’s right for you.

Top 10 Excuses People Make For Dating Failure (Part Two)

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Last week we talked about the first five of the “Top Ten Excuses” single adults make for dropping out of the dating pool. Today we’ll cover the second half of the list. Fair warning-the bottom half of the list is even more hard-hitting than the first five, so fasten your seat belts. If you are making excuses for dating failure, prepare to be challenged…in the best possible way!

The first five “excuses” centered around physical limitations, advanced age, kids, game playing and finances. Let’s continue where we left off:

1) Shyness

If words are hard to come by and meeting people is not easy, you certainly aren’t alone. For better or worse, women still largely expect men to approach them first, so men especially have to get around shyness. This is probably the #1 excuse men give (along with the next one), and citing it can only point to one thing: you simply lack the guts to go for it. Women love men who are confident, and being able to start a conversation with an attractive woman is a key indicator of this. So guys, you just have to find the courage to make conversations happen. There are innumerable books and articles written on this elsewhere, but the best place to start is simply to make conversation with waitresses, bank tellers and any other women you meet during the course of daily life. Once you realize they will be friendly back, you are on the road to getting over shyness. If, on the other hand, you find women are NOT responding well, it’s time to address creepiness-because women will normally respond very favorably (if not necessarily romantically) to any man who is friendly and non-threatening.

Ladies if you find yourself clamming up when an interesting guy approaches you, the same concept holds true. Just treat the conversation as if with anyone you’ve already known for years. Easier said than done, I realize, but again practice makes perfect.

2) Fear Of Rejection

Ah yes…the second excuse that men so often make. Our poor egos would be sooo bruised if a woman fails to validate us. The quickest cure for this is for a guy to begin to view approaching women as an opportunity to validate HER as a potential friend rather than a “do or die” referendum on whether she “accepts” him or not. That way, there’s really no “rejection” involved, is there? The prevailing scenario is-again-that typically women will be friendly to guys who aren’t obnoxious or creepy. If they are in fact rude to a guy who approaches, my feeling is that the guy dodged a serious bullet. Who wants to get stuck with a rude woman?

Fear of rejection can manifest itself even after a relationship is rolling. If we’ve been “dumped” a few times in a row it’s easy to give up on dating altogether. Once again, asking the right questions ASAP in a relationship can help make sure differences in goals don’t show up later. It’s also important to look in the mirror if we get dumped time and again-especially if for no apparent reason. Are you giving vibes that you might not be trustworthy long term? Have you become less personable as your “true colors” are shown? Are you pushing too hard for commitment too early? All of these are GREAT reasons to get “dumped”. Make sure you aren’t perpetrating your own revolving-door relationships.

3) Risk

Schedule a few dates in public places and you’ll soon realize that most of your dates aren’t “dangerous”…even the ones you meet online. Once such “physical risks” are mitigated, consider emotional risks carefully. If you are afraid of “getting hurt” consider the types of people most likely to inflict emotional pain and avoid them. This means asking the right questions regarding what is expected out of a ‘relationship’ and-quite simply-not becoming emotionally attached to someone with a different agenda. Will you ever be able to take all “risk” off the table? No. But as Tennyson is so often quoted as saying, “it’s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.” Believe that, and you’ve cured yourself of this excuse…especially when you realize just how much lower the “risk factors” can truly be when the right conversations happen from the beginning.

4) “No Man Can Handle Me”

This is the mantra of smart, successful and / or strong willed women everywhere. Don’t “dumb down” for anyone, but do make an effort to position yourself where you have the opportunity to meet guys who meet your standards. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that sitting at the top of the bell curve means that your dating options are limited as a woman in particular. But you can and will meet a man you can respect…if you are determined. Don’t give up.

5) Disdain For The Opposite Sex

Well, I hope that it comes as no surprise that people who really can’t stand the opposite gender have a tough time finding someone of that demographic who is willing to commit to them. When spelled out so clearly it actually sounds silly, doesn’t it? If your sexual orientation is straight yet you don’t like the opposite sex much, plan on being very lonely until that is dealt with. Argue with me if you so choose, but my personal experience is that people who don’t like the opposite sex are typically hard to get along with for members of their OWN gender also. Go figure.

Healthy relationships are one of life’s greatest gifts. Everything we do here at X & Y Communications revolves around that principle. Instead of “giving up” in the face of doubt, the better response is to make the effort to deserve what you want. Through doing that the weakness imposed upon us by excuses for failure are transformed into power by virtue of taking responsibility for our own success. Cool, huh?

As I mentioned, this is a three-part series. But we’ve covered the top ten excuses people give for dating failures already, right? I believe that there is an even greater specter looming so large over the lives of many people that the shadow it casts requires a discussion unto itself. Its diabolical power to keep people mired in loneliness will be exposed and unraveled in the next issue.

Why Choose A Log Home?

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

In the market for a new home? Why not consider a log home? Here are a few reasons why a log home just might be right for you:

Beauty

Needless to say, the natural, rugged beauty of a log home is striking against a forested backdrop. A log home has a rustic, primitive beauty missing from traditional homes.

Uniqueness

Do you want your home to stand out from the rest? A log home will definitely stand out. The look of a log home is so unique and rustic, especially in an area where there are traditionally built homes. Are you someone who doesn’t like to conform to what the rest of the crowd is doing? A log home may be the way to go.

Comfort

Any home can be comfortable, but a log home can offer a cozy, warm feeling that a traditional home simply cannot duplicate. Just imagine sitting by the fire sipping a cup of hot cocoa. Imagine waking up in a room where the logs walls are exposed and feeling like your in an old western movie. Imagine celebrating Christmas in a log home, with a huge Christmas tree, stockings hanging over the rustic fireplace and the children snuggled safely in their beds to awaken to presents from Santa the next morning. The ambience of a log home is like no other.

History

Maybe your ancestors came to the U.S. long ago and lived in a log cabin. You can get a feel for how they lived then, while still enjoying today’s modern conveniences. A log home offers a certain connection with history and a pioneer spirit that is missing in traditionally built homes.

Environmental

Nowadays, log homes can be built from reclaimed and salvaged timber, so you aren’t cutting down forest to build your home. Not only that, but a log home is actually biodegradable, after many years, it will simply begin to rot away and the logs will become part of the forest from which it came. Log home construction also tends to use less toxic materials so the environmental footprint is much less. You can also use solar panels, Energy Star compliant appliances and accessories and your log home becomes one of the most environmentally sound choices for the home owner concerned about environmental issues.

Cost

Modern log homes, especially those built from kits or packages can actually be cost saving, sometimes less than traditionally built homes. With the average cost of homes built in the US about $115 per square foot, log homes usually have a cost of $90 - $110 per square foot. Plus, since log homes can be weather proofed like never before, this adds up to long term cost savings in heating and cooling costs. Log homes are also generally more strongly built than traditional homes, so a log home can last many years and stand up to the test of time and weather while also keeping its value.

So when thinking about your next home, why not consider a log home? The advantages are many and the modern advances in construction of log homes makes it a viable, even savvy option for your main home or just a vacation home. Don’t rule out the beauty and spirit that only a log home can offer.

7 Proven Strategies for Improving Your Alexa Ranking

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

After spending two years building my own website, I was very disappointed that my Alexa ranking was still higher than one million. Alexa ranks each website based on the number of visitors it receives. The top ranked website, Yahoo! has an Alexa rating of 1 or 2. Less popular sites could be ranked up to 5,000,000.

In order to improve my Alexa rating, I spent about three weeks combing the web to find tips, secrets, and proven strategies for increasing my Alexa ranking. Unfortunately, many of the sites offering advice didn’t even have a high ranking themselves. Finally I discovered a number of sites ranked within the top 100,000 that were all applying the same “Alexa techniques” to improve their ranking. I’ve begun implementing a number of these techniques and have improved my Alexa ranking by 250,000 spots in just one week.

Here’s what you need to know. The basis for many of these techniques is the fact that your Alexa ranking is based reach and page views. However it only counts those who visit your site and have already downloaded the Alexa toolbar. Anyone can download the toolbar for free which is automatically added to your browser and tracks the sites you’re visiting. Increasing visits from those who do not have the Alexa toolbar installed will not help your Alexa ranking.

I’ve summarized the 7 strategies that I’ve discovered and applied to my own website to increase my Alexa ranking. Apply these strategies to your own website and see your ranking climb towards the top.

1. Download the Alexa toolbar and use it every day to visit your own website. Alexa even gives you the ability to co-brand the toolbar with your own logo and give it away. You can download the toolbar here: http://pages.alexa.com/prod_serv/associatetoolbar.html

2. Use Alexa redirection whenever you can. No matter when or where you provide a link to your website, be sure to use the equivalent Alexa redirect URL. For example, when providing a link to my website, I use http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?marketingscoop.com. If you copy this URL into your browser, it will take you to MarketingScoop.com. To use this technique, simply replace the name of my website (marketingscoop) with yours.

3. Encourage your website visitors to add their positive testimonials on Alexa’s detailed listings page for your website. This can be done by placing a link to the appropriate Alexa page on your website and asking visitors to “Click here to rate this website”. You can find your detailed Alexa page here: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=marketingscoop.com

Again, just replace the name of my website (marketingscoop) with yours. By clicking on the URL, visitors will be able to reach your detailed rating page and write a review using the review link located on the left hand side of the page.

4. Write your own site reviews on the top 100 rated Alexa sites and include your redirect URL. The top 500 domains, according to Alexa can be found at http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_500 When you write a review, be sure to use the redirection URL we discussed in number 2 above specifically for your website (http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?marketingscoop.com).

5. Download the Alexa ranking button, traffic history graph, info links, and other traffic counters onto the page of your website that receives the most traffic. For example, at the bottom of my home page (http://www.marketingscoop.com), I’ve added the Alexa ranking box. You can do the same for your own site by visiting http://www.alexa.com/site/site_stats/signup You’ll notice that I haven’t added the traffic history graph. This is because it wouldn’t look appropriate on my home page and because Alexa is only providing detailed history on the top 100,000 sites. So if you’re not in the top 100,000, site stats would not be available.

6. Take an inexpensive ad out on the ExactSeek search directory at http://exactseek.com/?marketingscoop.com. Search engine results are directly correlated with Alexa rankings. You’ll notice that if a website is highly ranked on ExactSeek, chances are that it will be highly ranked on Alexa.

7. Get listed on as many search engines as possible by placing a free listing in DMOZ. This is the largest human edited directory on the web and is co-branded among hundreds of thousands of sites. Be patient though, it often takes up to 5 months before you see your website listed after submission. Even though it takes longer than it should, you have little say in the matter because it’s so widely used across the Internet.

These simple Alexa strategies are easy to implement and will make a huge difference in your Alexa ranking. Ultimately you want visitors to do more than visit your home page, you want them to interact with your site. Be sure to optimize your home page for SEO purposes, ease of use, and interaction. Creating a positive user experience will get visitors to return again and again.

What Happens When You Travel Australia in the Summer

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

First things first: summer in Australia is the direct opposite of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Yes, you heard right. In Australia, summer actually happens from December to February. Which means Aussies celebrate their Christmas at the height of summer. Which means they get to do more things they otherwise couldn’t do if they were in the wintry, arctic regions on the Northern Hemisphere. Blessed be the Australian summer.

But watch out: the Australian summer can be very hot and unforgiving, but this is just fine as long as you keep a handy bottle of sunscreen with you and arm yourself with a good pair of UV-proof sunglasses. For Aussie families, summer generally is the time to hit the beach and frolic in the waters. Summer also marks the mid-year break for students; instead of springbreak, they enjoy summer holidays or Christmas holidays. And for backpackers who roam and travel Australia, the Aussie summer can be a liberating experience. Even businesspeople who like to keep busy with work even during the holidays prefer to leave their freezing homelands and travel Australia to seek its cosy warmth.

Before you get any misplaced ideas about Australia as being just pure hard summer, you have to realise that Australia is such a large country that each region experiences different weather patterns. Up north where the tropical rainforests reign, it’s mainly high temperatures and high humidity and distinct wet and dry seasons. In the centre of the country, where the Outback sprawls, it’s dry, desert regions with high daytime temperatures and occasional bursts of rain. In the south are the temperate regions with moderate rainfall and temperatures ranging from hot to cold.

To travel Australia in all its entirety is to witness nature’s awesome and breathtaking display of colors, heat, frenzy, and vibrance. It’s a land of extremes: one moment you could be enjoying a runny pistachio ice cream under the scorching sun, the next, you could be snuggling tight with a loved one under the velvety pouring rain. There’s no perfect weather in which to travel Australia. After all wherever we go, we all bring along with us our pieces of sky and sun and climate.
